About the Boerenbox

Is Boerenbox vegan?

No, all of the recipes we use are vegetarian, but may include by-products such as eggs, dairy, and honey. However, do let us know if you would like to see (more) vegan recipes; we might use more of them in the future!

How can you offer meals for a low amount of money, while also providing farmers with a fair price?

That’s because we cut out the middlemen. Usually, farmers sell their products to distributors or agents, who in turn sell them to large retailers, e.g. supermarket chains. This lengthens the supply chain, meaning more transport movements (and thus C02), and a loss of freshness. Additionally, the bargaining power enjoyed by these large distributors puts pressure on individual farmers to produce and sell their products for the lowest possible price. At Boerenbox, we buy our products directly from local farmers, paying them a fair price and shortening the supply chain in the process.

Do I need to be some kind of masterchef to prepare the meals?

Not at all. Your name is probably not Jamie Oliver, and ours isn’t either. We are all students who at some point had to learn how to cook (or are still in the process of doing so ..), so we make sure all our recipes are easy and fast.

I have allergies, what are my options?

Are you allergic to a product in this week’s recipe? Let us know (in advance) via and we can see what we can do!

Can I order a smaller or bigger box?

Not yet. We are starting out with a single box that contains two servings of a single recipe. In the future, we might add boxes with different sized or contents. Keep an eye on our social media, and you’ll be among the first to know!

Can I order a Boerenbox even if I don’t study at Radboud Univeristy or HAN?

Of course! The more the merrier 😊

About payment and pickup

Is it necessary to order a box in advance?

Yes, by having everyone order and pay in advance, we are trying to minimize waste.

What payment methods are there?

We will send you an email with a link to Tikkie. You can pay for your Boerenbox using this method. We are working on a more permanent payment method. Please let us know if you prefer to pay for your Boerenbox in cash.

Where can I pick up my Boerenbox?

You can pick up your Boerenbox every Tuesday in the Refter between 16.00 and 17.30 hours. Check your confirmation email for further instructions.

What do I need to bring with me to pick up my Boerenbox?

All your products will be packed in a paper bag and ready to go, all you’ll have to do is carry it home with you. We do kindly ask you to bring some sort of identification, so we can check your name.
